You paddle out to the middle of a lake. As the sun rises over the far-off mountains, the loons let out a haunting call. You crack a book and read a chapter before the rest of the world wakes up. 

By kayaking or canoeing in the Lake George Area, that life can be yours. Paddling is one of the most peaceful ways to enjoy Lake George Area waters. Rent a kayak at any number of reputable rental locations. At some of these locations, you can even rent stand up paddle boards. If you own your own canoe or kayak, launch it at a public launch. Don’t forget a paddle!

Enjoy a guided lazy river tubing, rafting or kayaking trip for all ages. Calm water is perfect for families. Beat the heat, chill out and go with the flow. It will be the easiest vacation decision you've ever made!

Boats By George on the Lake

Boats by George offers a private launch, parking, gas, complete service, dock space rental, and a pump-out station. You can also purchase your LGPC registration decal or try out a  Stand-up paddle board rental. Check out the ship store while you are at it!

Hudson River Park

Boat launch, playground, basketball, softball, picnic shelter, fishing. This public boat launch, located at the end of Big Boom Road (exit 18), has a couple docks and some shoreline available within walking distance. Though not a trout area, expect to catch your share of sunfish, bass, pike, and perch. SWIMMING PROHIBITED. Leashed dogs are welcome. Parking, portable restroom.

Lake George Kayak Company

Guided kayak tours on Lake George for groups or individuals. Canoe, kayak, stand-up paddle board rentals, lessons, tours; shop, on-water location. We provide basic instruction, life vests, paddles, and guidance on the best places to paddle. To keep things simple we launch our boats into the water on location so you won't need to worry about carrying a kayak around or paying a parking fee; however the option to car-top your kayak and launch elsewhere is always open.

Luzerne Public Beach

Ideal beach for swimming and launch available for non motorized boats.  No fishing.  Limited parking - arrive early.

Luzerne State Campground

Come camping on Fourth Lake! Luzerne State Campground has 174 tent and trailer sites. Amenities include hot showers, flush toilets, a trailer dump station, fireplaces, and charcoal grills. Campers can swim, canoe, kayak, and fish on Fourth Lake, which is partially surrounded by the campground. No motor boats are allowed on the lake, creating a peaceful and quiet atmosphere.

Patty's Water Sports

Patty's Water Sports offers stand-up paddle board rentals, lessons, and  tours. Try the fastest growing sport on the water. It's a fun and easy way to play on the water and offers a full body workout. Stop by and experience the feeling of "walking on water."

Pharaoh Lake Wilderness Region

This 46,283-acre wilderness includes an abundance of lakes, ponds, streams, mountains, and hiking trails that are open to the public. The over 70 miles of hiking trails range from easy to difficult. Pharaoh Mountain, the highest mountain in the preserve, is found on the shores of Pharaoh Lake, the largest lake in the preserve.

River Ridin'

Trak-yak paddler, stand-up paddle board, kayak, tube, jet ski, and boat rentals for use on the Sacandaga and Hudson Rivers. Guided trips available.

Round the Lake Challenge

The Round the Lake Challenge is an outdoor recreation challenge designed by the Lake George Land Conservancy to, "educate about the Lake George watershed’s natural, historical and cultural resources by encouraging first-hand experiences."

Thirteenth Lake

Thirteenth lake in North River is a backwoods experience minus the hike. An accessible gravel path leads from the parking lot to a canoe launch where you'll have a chance at landing native Adirondack brook trout. Feeling adventurous? A network of hiking trails loop around the lake's east side, offering access to lakeside campsites and gin clear mountain ponds.
