The Lake George Winter Carnival has celebrated Adirondack family fun every winter since 1961.

Every Saturday and Sunday in February, winter enthusiasts flock to Lake George Village to watch, support, and participate in the cook-offs, races, tournaments, games and other activities on the ice and around the village. 

The Opening Ceremonies, and the parade along Canada Street take place on the first weekend kicking off the annual Carnival.

Looking for something fun to do on a Saturday or Sunday? The Lake George Winter Carnival has the Polar Plunge, pony rides, helicopter rides, Human Foosball Tournament, wood carving demonstrations, horse drawn carriage rides, Lake George Dog's Got Talent Show, children's activities, ATV wagon rides for the kids and face painting every Saturday and Sunday.

Hit the Hot Chocolate Bar at the Beach, and make S'mores at the Beach every Saturday. Make sure you don't leave before the fireworks blast off!

MYO (Make Your Own) ice cream sundae every Sunday during the Carnival!

More fun and lively entertainment includes Outhouse Races, the Chili Cook-off, 4x4 truck races and an ATV scavenger hunt/Poker run, ice diving demonstrations, the Glacier Golf Tournament, and the always popular chowder cook-off and chicken cook-off competitions.

2018 Lake George Winter Carnival Schedule

Every Saturday & Sunday throughout February

That’s right, these events and activities are so much fun that you can enjoy them every single Saturday and Sunday in February!

11:00AM – Human Foosball Tournament: Gather a group of six friends and family members and compete in the Human Foosball Tournament! Call to preregister, 518-685-3013 OR arrive by noon to sign up at The Garrison, 220 Beach Road and let the best team WIN!

11AM-4PM Wood Carving Demonstration in Shepard Park ~ watch as a piece of wood is transformed into an amazing creation.

12:00-3:00PM – Ice Diving Demonstration: Watch professional divers take to the icy water. Witness the techniques these divers use to break through frozen Lake George and explore the depths below. The demonstration will be located at Shepard Park Beach.

12:00-3:00PM – Children’s Activities: Enjoy a variety of arts, crafts, games and face painting fun to keep your little ones happy and occupied! Activities will be held at participating locations around town.

12:00-3:00PM – Pony Rides: Ride a pony at Shepard Park for a small fee.

2:00PM – Lake George Dog’s Got Talent Contest: This crowd favorite! Bring your doggie friends and showcase their skills. Prizes will be given to those pups that get the most “A-PAWS”!

3:00PM – Polar Plunge: We know it’s cold, but if you can handle it, we invite you to take a dip into Lake George! The registration and plunge will take place on the beach at Shepard Park. Remember your towel and dry clothes!

Throughout each day – Helicopter Rides: Fly over Lake George and see the Winter Carnival from above! Fees apply; Please contact Bruce at (518) 361-1380 for more information.

Throughout each day – Horse Drawn Carriage & Sleigh Rides: Step back in time when travel wasn't so face-paced. Enjoy a ride along Canada Street through the carnival festivities. Fees apply; Call Tina Purdy at (518) 321-5539 for information.

First Weekend: Saturday February 3rd

12:00PM – Opening Ceremonies: It’s our 57th year celebrating the Lake George Winter Carnival, and we want you to join us for the opening ceremonies on the MacDonald Pier in Shepard Park!

12:30PM – Out House Races: An annual Lake George Winter Carnival tradition! Come and see the wacky costumes, unique architecture, and crazy antics at this wild event with the whole family. The races will take place right on Lake George, so it'll be easy to see all of the action. And hey, if there's no ice on the lake, we have a backup plan. The race must go on! Registration will be held at Duffy's Tavern, 20 Amherst Street at 11 AM; Call (518) 668-5323 for additional information

12:30PM (‘til it's gone!) – Chili Cook-Off: Join us at the Shepard Park Amphitheater and become a judge! Sample chili from various Lake George restaurants and vote for your favorite. Chili is the perfect remedy for those chilly winter afternoons, so make sure to sample a few bowls! $5.00 a head for judging!

12:30-2:00PM – Open Mic: Show off your talents at the Winter Carnival Open Mic at the Shepard Park Amphitheater! All are welcome to attend and participate. To reserve your spot or for more information, contact DJ Chas (518) 307-6107

3:00PM – Cooking Demo with Chef Mike Burdick: Chef Mike Burdick has been whipping up delicious creations in area restaurants for years. Now, join us at Shepard Park Amphitheater as he presents an inspiring cooking demonstration that you're sure to love!

4:00PM – Lake George Winter Carnival Parade: This iconic winter parade marches down the center of town in Lake George. Starting from Fort William Henry and ending at Amherst Street, the parade is not to be missed! So bundle up, grab some coffee or hot cocoa, and line the street with family and friends! If you’re interested in taking part in the parade, please message us on Facebook, we’d love to have you!

4:45PM (‘til they're gone!) – S’mores at the Beach: We have a warm fire and all the fixings for some ooey-gooey s’mores! Devour them while they last on the beach at Shepard Park. This event is free!

4:45-6:00PM – Hot Chocolate Bar: The best way to stay warm in the winter is with hot chocolate. Stand around the fire on the beach at Shepard Park and sip some hot chocolate topped with all of your favorite fixings! This Lake George Winter Carnival staple includes a souvenir mug for $5.00!

6:00PM – Fireworks over the Lake is the best possible way to end a day at the winter carnival! Enjoy the spectacular view along the shores of the lake.

First Weekend: Sunday February 4th

11:00AM-12:00PM – ADK Youth Hockey Scrimmages: Watch and cheer on local youths as they scrimmage on a rink on Lake George. These kids have skills, so you don't want to miss these games!

2:00PM – Superbowl Sunday Pregame Keg Toss: Think you’ve got the strength it takes to toss a keg? Sign up for this competition by 1:45 at the souvenir tent near Shepard Park and show us what you've got! There's nothing like this event to get amped up for the Super Bowl!

Second Weekend: Saturday February 10th

9:00AM – ATV Scavenger Hunt: Bring your ATV and compete in this year’s scavenger hunt. Registration is between 9:00-11:00AM at Duffy’s Tavern. Participants must bring their driver’s license and their vehicle must be insured and registered. Good luck!

10:00AM-4:00PM – ECS Sanctioned Sno-Cross Races: Feel the adrenaline rush as high-performance Sno-Cross snowmobiles fly past. These specialized machines and their riders compete in an action-packed race at the Warren County Fairgrounds, 356 Schroon River Rd, Warrensburg. Registration on site. Competitors have 30 minutes to complete their figure and need to use the provided “snowman kit.” When the timer sounds, judging to determine which team will be crowned the “2018 Lake George Winter Carnival Best Snowman Builder” will begin. Third Weekend: Saturday February 17th

NYS AMA Sanctioned Motorcycles & ATV Ice Races: Watch as high-powered motorcycles and ATVs take to the ice on Lake George. Tickets can be purchased at the concession stand at any time during the carnival and you don’t need to be present to win. Good luck!
